Beef prices in Abidjan raises again

The Ivorian government announced on Wednesday the capping of beef prices per kilogram. More bad news for the population. With the current crisis, prices are soaring in the Abidjan district. Following this, the actors of the sector have consulted each other. According to a statement, they had no choice but to raise prices.

Prices soar suddenly

According to the joint communiqué from the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries, the price is very high. The government has set the maximum price of bone-in beef at the slaughterhouse at 2,300 CFA francs per kilogram at the ankle shops (wholesalers).

A kilogram of bone-in beef is sold at the slaughterhouse at 2,500 CFA francs to butchers (retailers). This price compares with 2,600 CFA francs, the maximum in the District of Abidjan, particularly at butchers and retailers.

As for boneless beef, the price is 2,300 CFA francs per kilogram at the slaughterhouse. At butchers (retailers), it will be 2,700 CFA francs per kilogram, compared to 2,800 CFA francs at butchers in the District of Abidjan.

The government calls the protesters to order

This measure to cap beef prices comes after a price hike on the Abidjan market. The government is urging compliance with this decision, but warns that any violator will be subject to sanctions.
