Burkina Faso: an explosion of fuel barrels kills two people

Two people were killed in an explosion of fuel barrels on Tuesday 1 June 2021. The accident occurred at around 4pm in the Borgo district. According to the National Brigade of Firemen who came to the scene, it was 200 meters from the maquis "la Consolatrice".

According to the Operations and Transmission Coordination Office of the First Fire and Rescue Company in Ouagadougou, the fire was caused by barrels exposed to the heat. The intervention team had to deal with a fire involving more than twenty (20) fuel barrels stored in a residential yard. In a chain reaction, houses were set on fire.

Two victims were reported, one seriously burned and the other dead (burned).

In view of this tragedy, the population is invited to strictly respect the regulations concerning the storage of dangerous materials.
