The news spread like wildfire. "General Colin L. Powell, former U.S. Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, died this Monday from complications related to Covid 19," the Powell family wrote on Facebook. They said they had lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American.

Following the family's announcement of his death, many American and world political figures offered their condolences to his loved ones.

He was known for his leadership in several Republican administrations. He also contributed to the implementation of American foreign policy in the last years of the 20th century and the first years of the 21st century. His career as a soldier propelled him to the position of the first black national security advisor at the end of Ronald Reagan's presidency. He was even the youngest and first African-American chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President George H.W. Bush. His popularity ratings soared and he was in the best position to become the first black president of the United States. But, he could not have that privilege. He still remained a staunch supporter of Democratic presidential candidates like Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

At this point, many internet users are asking questions about the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines. According to Powell's family, he was doubly vaccinated. Unfortunately, he still succumbed to the pandemic. According to some experts, he suffered from multiple myeloma, a disease that 'diminishes' the effectiveness of the vaccine. But this is a bit of a stretch.
