Khenchela: 4 injured in the explosion of a home-made mine in Chechar

Four (4) people were injured to various degrees following the explosion of a home-made mine in the region of Siyare, south of the town of Chechar (wilaya of Khenchela), a security source said Thursday.

The services of the brigade of the national gendarmerie of Chechar received Thursday morning a distress call, indicating that an improvised mine had exploded affecting a group of people who were hunting in the region of Siyare, south of this local authority, the same source said.

The elements of this security body, those of the National People's Army (ANP) and the secondary unit of the Civil Protection, went to the scene where four (4) people, from the localities of Babar and Chechar, were injured to various degrees, it was added.

The injured received first aid from firefighters before being evacuated to the emergency room of the Chadli Bendjedid public hospital in the town of Chechar, it was said.

An investigation has been opened by the competent security services to determine the exact circumstances of this incident.
