The 53rd edition of the International Fair of Algiers (FIA) begins today at the Palais des expositions des Pins Maritimes in Algiers. This event will last 5 days (from 13 to 17 June). On display, there will be the participation of more than 700 companies, including 187 foreign companies representing 20 countries. Event "for a strategic partnership The organizers have chosen the slogan "For a strategic partnership" for this economic event. It will have as a guest of honor the United States, with the participation of 35 American companies representing the sectors of energy, construction, agriculture, food, water, environment, aviation industry and education. In addition to foreign companies, 530 Algerian exhibitors will take part in the event, including 147 public companies and 383 private. The national companies participating in the FIA represent the following sectors: - electronic, electrical, household appliances industries (42 companies) - food industry (68 companies), - services (66 companies), - chemical and petrochemical industries (87 companies), - mechanical industries (68 companies), - manufacturing industries (35 companies), - companies in the crafts sector (100 companies) - building and public works (45 companies), - as well as 19 subsidiaries of foreign companies in Algeria. The Ministry of National Defense (MDN) will participate for the first time with a total number of 19 companies representing production units of economic character in the sectors of mechanical industry, textiles and shipbuilding. An event back after two years of absence Due to the health crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 53rd edition of the FIA will occupy a total exhibition area of 24,800 square meters, an increase of 41% over the last edition. This event will open the way for Algerian and foreign economic operators to exchange their visions, ideas and initiatives, as well as to create opportunities to develop business relationships to increase the partnership and improve the integration rates of local products. Regarding the novelties of this edition, a pavilion had been reserved for the wilaya of Tamanrasset. This is a decision, taken from this year, and which is to invite one of the country's wilayas as a guest of the fair to allow him to highlight its cultural heritage, its tourism and economic potential. On the sidelines of the event, business meetings (B2B), as well as conferences, will be organized by the National Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (ALGEX) and the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) to address issues relating to partnership and investment in Algeria. The 53rd edition of the FIA also coincides with a meeting on the Algerian-American negotiations on the Framework Agreement on Trade and Investment (TIFA) scheduled for June 14 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Commerce. Also within the framework of the Fair, ALGEX will organize at the pavilion "Saoura" the 6th session of the exhibition "Export Algeria", dedicated to exporting companies or with export capabilities. For its part, the management of the Algerian Company of fairs exports (SAFEX) has reserved a space for sale at the pavilion "El-Bahdja" and another space dedicated to craft activities.
