The bodies of two Spanish journalists and an Irish environmental activist, who disappeared on Monday, were found on Tuesday in the middle of the bush by Burkinabe security forces.

It is with sadness that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha Gonzalez Laya, confirmed the death of the two Spanish nationals during an attack in the area, where they were supposed to make a documentary on the fight against poaching. They were journalists David Beriain, 43, and Roberto Fraile, 47. Apart from them, the American NGO Chengeta Wildlife also confirmed on its website the death of the Irishman Rory Young, the president and co-founder of the NGO.

This execution, described as a "terrorist act", has provoked widespread reactions around the world, particularly in Spain and Ireland. For example, the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borell, reacted on Twitter by saying: "by murdering journalists in Burkina Faso, the terrorists have shown once again their cowardice and their true criminal face: that of defenders of an obscurantism that annihilates all freedom of expression. "

On Tuesday evening, the remains of the three Westerners were transferred to Ouagadougou.
