For a month, fresh food has been rotting due to lack of electricity. The president of the Federation of Enterprises of Congo (FEC) in East Kasai, Dominique Ilunga, said that it is becoming very urgent. According to him, the sellers of fresh food are experiencing a paralysis in their activities. A situation that pushes some to liquidate their goods at a lower cost.

Some businesses are closing their doors due to lack of electricity

"The lack of power in the city for a month is a serious problem. It is accentuating the situation of businesses that were initially operating at a high cost of operating expenses. Today, some businesses are closing because of the lack of electricity. These include our friends in the cold stores, who are making huge losses. All their stock is spoiled and this poses a problem of supply because they do not know when the power will return to feed their system," he explained.

It should be noted that the lack of electricity for almost a month in the city of Mbuji-Mayi has affected the economic activities of some small and medium-sized enterprises. The capital of Kasai-Oriental is living in darkness following a breakdown at the Tshiala hydroelectric plant.
