On April 19, the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) released the provisional results of the first round of the April 11 presidential election. To no one's surprise, the incumbent president, Idriss Déby Itno, was re-elected in the first round.

According to the provisional results presented by the electoral commission, he won 79.32% of the votes, against his former Prime Minister, Albert Pahami Padacké, who obtained only 10.32% of the votes. For Idriss Déby Itno, there is no reason to be stunned by these figures because he has always bet that he will win a sixth term without a second round.

As for the other candidates, Lydie Beassemda got 3.16%, Félix Nialbé Romadoungar 1.90%, Brice Mbaimon 1.4%, Baltazar Alladoum 1.3%, Théophile Yombombé 0.43%, Ngarjely Yorongar 0.4%, and Saleh Kebzabo, the one who withdrew his candidacy, got 1.03%.

However, according to observers, there were some irregularities in these elections. Even with a high voter turnout of 64.81 percent and a calm April 11, many considered the elections to be inconsequential. Aside from that, there were problems with the registration and distribution of voter registration cards. Fraud was reported. As a result, several opponents called on observers from the African Union and regional organizations to report fraudulent behavior. However, the latter do not really take into account these alerts and claim that even these do not affect the credibility of the election at all.
