On Wednesday, the main opponent Hakainde Hichilema, head of the United Party for National Development (UPND), went to Lusaka to officially file his candidacy for the presidential elections, scheduled for August. Hakainde Hichilema, also known as "HH" by his supporters, will be the main competitor to incumbent President Edgar Lungu.

Upon his arrival in Luska, HH was warmly welcomed by dozens of Zambians, demanding change. Indeed, Zambia, which is a poor and landlocked country in southern Africa, is currently plunged into numerous financial problems. In default of payment, the country now has an estimated external debt of about 10 billion euros. As a result of this problem, the country is facing economic difficulties. And apart from that, the population is suffering from not being able to eat enough.

According to analysts, the resolution of these debt problems will be the major issue of these elections.

With regard to this, HH declared before an audience that came with banners stating "enough is enough, we want HH", that he promises to make sure that Zambians will not be hungry and that children will be able to go to school.

Thus, Zambia will go to presidential and parliamentary elections on August 12.
